Dr. Satish S. Mali (MBBS, MD, DNB, NET-UGC), Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine / PSM

He is a Post-graduate (MD) from Seth G.S. Medical College, K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai and Undergraduate (MBBS) from Grant Medical College & Sir J.J. Group of HospitalsMumbai. He had worked at Kasturba Infectious Diseases Hospital under Public Health Department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as an Assistant Medical Officer (AMO-Administration) and then at K. J. Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai for almost 8 yrs. as Assistant Professor before joining Municipal Medical Colleges.

After joining BMC, he had worked at LTMMC & GH, Sion as an Assistant Professor. He was promoted to TNMC & BYL Nair Charitable Hospital as an Associate Professor and currently working in this institution since Feb.2021.

He is MCI & MUHS recognized UG (MBBS) & PG (MD-Community Medicine) teacher. He has 8 publications in various international & national journals and published two books in Community Medicine / PSM. He had conducted many Sensitization workshops about HIV-AIDS (Stigma & Discrimination) for Hospital staff of Municipal peripheral hospitals and College youths (NSS) with Mumbai District AIDS Control society (MDACS). Also, he had conducted Adolescent Boys education (Adolescence, Growing up & HIV AIDS) sessions for Adolescents boys in tribal & urban areas of Maharashtra.

During COVID-19 pandemic, he had conducted sessions on "Prevention of transmission of nCOVID19 and Self-care" for training of emergency services personnel & health care workers in early period. He was deputed as Expert Epidemiologist and Front desk in-charge at Seven hills  hospital, the first COVID19 hospital in Mumbai and then as a Coordinator at NSCI Jumbo COVID facility, Worli - First field hospital for COVID care. He was promoted to post of Additional Dean at NSCI Jumbo COVID facility in Dec.2020. He had also introduced Online teaching for MBBS students and provided all technical support & training to faculty members, planning and implementation of teaching programme for Medical UG students & conducted online Examinations (theory & practical examinations) during ongoing COVID pandemic to continue medical teaching uninterrupted  during same period at LTMMC.

He has a strong inclination for teaching and was In-charge for teaching curriculum for MBBS, Physiotherapy and Nursing students in previous colleges Preventive & Social medicine (PSM) department. His special interest is in Medical Education, Administration & Management, Epidemiology, Biostatistics & data analysis in medicine, School health, National Health Programs & Non-communicable diseases (NCDs). He is a life member of IAPSM (Indian association of Preventive & Social Medicine).
