World Suicide Prevention Day Awareness Program 2026

On account of the World Suicide Prevention Day today 10th September, the community team of the Department of Psychiatry conducted awareness sessions in BMC schools (Umar Rajjab and KK). The children participated with a lot of interest as a popular Hindi cinema was used for discussion and group activity. The session ended with a cue card activity focussing on developing protective factors for children. The children in our OPD also participated in the cue card activity. Clinical psychology students presented a skit in the OPD demonstrating warning signs of suicide and how family or friends can initiate support. The patients and relatives could relate to this skit and asked questions and also shared their own stories after this presentation. Our residents, CDO and psychologists also participated in in creating awareness,dispelling myths related to suicide along with poster exhibition in the opd foyer. The Department of Psychiatry is continuing its endeavour in mental health advocacy through various programs all which is possible with support of Dean Sir.
