talk on role of exercises in prevention and treatment of osteoporosis as a
health promotion activity at the Shivaji Nagar UHC on 2th January 2023. Dr. Anushka Dalvi and interns Ms Richa Jain
and Ms Priyanshi Mehta gave the talk under the guidance of Dr Swati Kubal.

Mumbai celebrated "International Women's Day" by conducting Health
Camps. NCD and RTI /STI Screening Camp and Physiotherapy Camp was conducted on
08/03/2023 in Sector B community hall under Shahaji Nagar Urban Health Centre,
Cheeta Camp.
16. On 12th March
2023, Sancheti College of Physiotherapy organized “Scientifica 2023” where Ms
Richa Jain (Intern) presented her paper “Corelation of Environmental Barriers,
Physical Activity and Social Participation in Chronic Stroke patients”,
Priyanshi Mehta (Intern) presented “Investigating the Perception of Importance
of Administration and Management Skills in Practicing Physiotherapists – A
Descriptive Study” and Ms Nisha Chavan presented “Awareness about Digital
accessibility settings in smartphones amongst Physiotherapists - A Descriptive
Study”.
17. Dr Hitav Someshwar, Assistant Professor,
Physiotherapy School and Centre, TN Medical College and BYL Nair Ch Hospital,
Mumbai was invited as a resource person for the "Geriratric Care Givers
certification course" organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Social

35. The Early Intervention and Rehabilitation
Centre for Children (EIRCC), is a flagship and one of a kind project under BYL
Nair Ch. Hospital and TN Medical College, for providing multidisciplinary care
to children with special needs. The center was officially Innaugrated by the
Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde with all the other
dignitaries on 24th December 2023

Faculty,

in the 9th Annual National Conference of Society for Hand Therapy, India (SHTI)
in collaboration with 45th Annual National Conference of Indian Society for the
Surgery of the Hand (ISSH) held on 6th-8th October 2022 at Marriott, Jaipur.
Physiotherapy School and Centre presented 4 posters and 2 papers in the
conference. Dr. Chhaya V. Verma (PT, PhD), Professor & Head, was a judge
for the mini-movie competition held in the conference.

occasion of World Diabetes Day on 14th November 2022, Shahaji Nagar UHC
conducted camp and health talk. Dr Pooja Khedekar (PT) and Miss Preshita
Kinkar, Final year BPTH student of Physiotherapy School and Centre,
participated in conducting camp and gave health talk on Importance of exercise
in pre-diabetes and diabetes.
10. Physiotherapy School and Centre organized a 4 day
workshop on Neurodynamic solutions for Upper Quarter and Lower Quarter from
15th to 18th December 2022 by Dr Kiran Challagundla. The workshop was attended
by Faculty, Clinical Staff as and students.
11. Dr. Hitav Someshwar, Physiotherapist at
Physiotherapy School and Centre, TNMC, received the prestigious World
Federation of Neurorehabilitation Travel Fellowship for the 12th World Congress
for Neurorehabilitation 2022, Vienna held from 14th to 17th
December 2022 where he presented a paper on “No Additional Effects of Prism
Adaptation on Optokinetic Stimulation in Neglect Recovery in the Poststroke: A
Randomized Control Trial”, an E-poster on “Prevalence of Unilateral Neglect in
Stroke Patients admitted to a territory health care set up in Mumbai, India”
and Oral Presentation on “ Changes in Neurorehabilitation Practice during 2 years
of Covid pandemic in India”.
2021
1.The Physiotherapy School and Centre, conducted a lecture cum demonstration on "Diabetes and Physical Activity" for diabetic patients in Endocrinology OPD to celebrate 'World Diabetes Day' on 19th November 2021. Two of our clinical physiotherapists, Dr. Sayali Mhatre and Dr. Madhura Patil along with Assistant Professor, Dr. Rachna Arora conducted the session. The focus of the session was to educate the patients about the importance of physical activity in Diabetes Mellitus. The patients were demonstrated simple exercises to perform on a day-to-day basis. The doubts and queries raised by the patients were answered. The importance of compliance to good physical activity was explained to avoid long-term consequences of Diabetes. The session was a great success and was appreciated by the Endocrinology faculty and patients.
2. Department of Physiotherapy participated in the webinar organized by the Department of pediatrics along with ROCHE on multidisciplinary rehabilitation in spinal muscular atrophy on 12th November 2021. Dr. Maina Cava (Pediatric neurologist, SMA Clinic head, Perths children Hospital, Australia), Dr. Alpana Kondekar (Associate professor, Department of Pediatrics, TNMC & BYL Nair Ch. Hospital) and Dr. Hitav Someshwar (PT) (Physiotherapist, Department of Physiotherapy, TNMC & BYL Nair Ch. Hospital) were the eminent Speakers.
3. Physiotherapy School and Centre, TN Medical College & BYL Nair Ch Hospital, celebrated "World Physiotherapy Day" by holding virtual events. Essay and Art competition was held for the Physiotherapy students. The topic was "Covid through my eyes". The students showcased their unique take on the topic. The program ended with felicitation of our frontline Covid warriors in appreciation of their good work
4. Physiotherapy School and Centre conducted Webinar on "Robotics in Physiotherapy" by Dr Srivastava, Director of Neurorehabilitation and his team on 24th August 2021. They are using Robotics as part of Neurorehabilitation at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. It was very well explained with wonderful videos showing upper limb training and gait training using overhead suspension and locomat. More than 124 attendees were logged in. Students were very happy to learn about advanced technologies in Rehabilitation.
5. Physiotherapy School and Centre conducted a Community Physiotherapy program, a webinar on "Community Rehabilitation of Persons with Spinal Cord Injury: Met and Unmet Needs" on 14th August 2021. Eminent guest speakers were Dr Raghuprasad Varma, (Spine Surgeon at LH Hiranandani, Fortis, Appollo, Reliance, Lilavati and Breach Candy Hospitrals), Dr Ashok Trivedi, (Physiotherapist from Gujarat and has worked for many years with patients with SCI), Dr Uday Khopkar (Professor & Head, Dermatology Dept, GSMC), Dr Adnan Kadiani, (Assistant Professor in Psychiatry Dept, TNMC), Dr Prasad Bramhe (Sr Registrar, Urology Dept, TNMC), Dr PS Dantala, (Orthotist practicing in Mumbai for last 25 years), Mrs Maya Kishore, (Social Worker cum counsellor in the field of rehabilitation of paraplegics for last 26 years) and Dr Ketna Mehta, Founder Trustee of Nina Foundation (NGO for rehabilitating friends with spinal cord injuries) and recipient of the prestigious NCPEDP Shell Helen Keller and Money Life Woman Achiever Awards.
6. Physiotherapy School & Centre organized an Educational and Field Trip as a part of the Nursing Curriculum for Nursing Students from 5th to 9th July 2021. A total of 85 Nursing Students divided in 5 batches visited the Department for 5 days, where theory lectures for Basic Physiotherapy practice were taken followed by Practical Hands-on Demonstration. Lectures were taken by our Clinical Staff Dr Madhura Patil, Dr Divya Rangwani, Dr Sayli Mhatre, Dr Krutika Bhosale, Dr Hitav Someshwar.
7. Online Convocation Ceremony of Interns batch (2016 - 2021) was held on 17th June 2021. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Dr Shyam Ganvir, Principal and Professor, PDVVPF's College of Physiotherapy, Ahmednagar).
8. "Movement Concept" workshop was conducted on 2nd and 3rd April 2021 by our Alumnus Dr Pradnya Girdhar as part of Centenary Year Celebrations.
9. A Workshop on "Exercises on the Gym Ball" was conducted by our Alumnus Dr Apurv Shimpi on 20th March 2021 as part of Centenary year celebrations.
10. A workshop on "Narrative Writing and Reflections" was conducted by Dr Henal Shah, Professor and Head, Psychiatry Department, TN Medical College
11. Undergraduate and Post Graduate Students participated and presented their research projects in Scientifica 2021, A Virtual International conference organized by Sancheti College of Physiotherapy on 27th and 28th March 2021.
2020
1.Faculty of Physiotherapy School and Centre attended the 5th Annual Conference organized by Society of Indian Physiotherapists at Novotel, Mumbai on 10th, 11th January 2020. Rachna Arora, Assistant Professor, presented a poster on "Effect of Singing in COPD Patients" in the conference.
2. As part of SWAASTHIK 2020 organizing committee, Students of Physiotherapy School & Centre arranged CME lectures in Physiotherapy from 11th to 13th February 2020. Lectures on Functional Diagnosis and Community Physiotherapy, Critical Care, ICU Physiotherapy, Electrodiagnostic studies and Neuro-rehabilitation.
3. Interns Ms Shrushti Dhoot, Ms. Bhagyashree Sawant, Ms Anagha Dalvi, and Ms Pooja Gaikwad participated and presented their research projects in Scientifica 2020 Students Conference organized by Sancheti College of Physiotherapy on 1st and 2nd February 2020 at Pune.
4. "Oath taking Ceremony" for our outgoing interns was conducted on 4th March 2020. Prof HS Writer was the Guest of Honour and Dr Aseem N Parekh, Academic Dean, presided the ceremony.
5. COVID-CME program was conducted by Biochemistry Department and Pulmonary Medicine Department on 2nd July 2020. The objective of the CME was to become aware of the Health Care Worker (HCW) and patient COVID management pathways well as Quarantine and Isolation guidelines. The staff and postgraduate students of our department as well as faculties of Audiology and Speech Therapy were empowered with knowledge regarding strategic planning of Triage and COVID Management and discharge protocol pertaining to our hospital.
6. Interaction and problem-solving programme with the faculty of Medicine department was conducted on 7th July 2020 where the progress of patients admitted in the ICUs and wards was discussed. Doubts regarding the medical and physiotherapy management were cleared. Advanced treatment strategies were discussed.
7. 11th July, 2020: An increase in stress levels has been observed in this pandemic situation. This stress is seen to cause a reduction in the working capacity and an increase in the vitals. To reduce this stress, a yoga and meditation session was organized with the Professor and Head of AST Department on 11th July 2020. This session not only helped in reducing the stress but also helped us understand the importance of positive thinking.
8. A discussion on Neurorehabilitation in COVID was taken by Dr Dhruv Mehta (PT in Neurosciences) on 13th July 2020. He has voluntarily offered help in this COVID crisis. His assistance is highly appreciated. He constantly motivated the frontliners.
