1st Multidisciplinary CME – Novel Practices in Medicine
The Research Society, TNMC & BYL Nair Hospital, successfully conducted its 1st Multidisciplinary CME on “Novel Practices in Medicine” as part of Foundation Week Celebrations. The CME was inaugurated by Dr. Shailesh Mohite, Dean & Director, who graced the occasion as Patron & Chief Guest. The programme featured expert sessions spanning oncology, cardiology, AI in pathology, aquatherapy, aesthetic gynecology and transfusion medicine. A vibrant platform for interdisciplinary learning, knowledge exchange and advancing medical practice.

USG-Guided Regional Anaesthesia Workshop
The Department of Anaesthesiology successfully conducted a USG-Guided Regional Anaesthesia Workshop for residents and junior faculty, providing an excellent platform for hands-on learning and skill enhancement in contemporary regional anaesthesia techniques. The workshop helped participants develop practical skills in ultrasound-guided nerve identification, needle guidance and precise delivery of regional blocks. Such training enhances procedural accuracy, improves patient safety, reduces complications and promotes greater confidence in performing regional anaesthesia in clinical practice. Thanks to our Respected Dean & Director, Dr. Shailesh Mohite Sir, for his constant support, encouragement and commitment towards strengthening academic and clinical training. Dept also extend its sincere gratitude to the Department of Plastic Surgery for facilitating the use of the Skill Lab, which contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the workshop.

SMA MDT Workshop 2026
The SMART Clinic (Spinal Muscular Atrophy Rehabilitation and Treatment Multidisciplinary Clinic), in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics, successfully conducted the SMA MDT Workshop 2026 on 27 August 2026. The workshop featured a unique three-hall, parallel hands-on format, offering specialty-focused, clinically relevant learning across Pulmonary & Critical Care in SMA Type 1, Speech, Swallowing & Nutrition in SMA, and Motor Outcome Measures in SMA, led collaboratively by the Departments of Pediatrics, Chest Medicine, Audiology & Speech Therapy, Nutrition, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The workshop was formally inaugurated by the Honourable Dean & Director, Dr. Shailesh Mohite. Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Bharti Asgaonkar, Dr. Jyoti Mohite, Dr. Sunita, Dr. Ketaki and Ms. Anagha (Dietician) for their leadership and dedicated efforts in successfully conducting the respective workshops.

Sadbhavana Diwas 2026
Topiwala National Medical College observed Sadbhavana Diwas on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The programme was attended by the Dean, faculty members and staff, who paid floral tribute and reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of harmony, unity and peaceful coexistence. The occasion also recalled the contributions and vision of Shri Rajiv Gandhi, particularly his emphasis on youth, education, science and technology, and his vision of taking India into the 21st century. Sadbhavana Diwas serves as a reminder of the importance of communal harmony, national integration, mutual respect and goodwill in strengthening the unity and progress of the nation.

Communication Skills and Capacity Building Workshop
Strengthening compassionate healthcare delivery, the Department of Psychiatry has launched a Communication Skills and Capacity Building Workshop for healthcare workers. The first session was conducted for 25 healthcare workers from Casualty and Trauma, using interactive case scenarios, role plays and group discussions. The session highlighted patient-felt needs such as fear, anxiety, pain, uncertainty, information, dignity and reassurance. The workshop series will continue over the coming months for different cadres of healthcare workers across hospital settings. Provider-Initiated Testing and Counselling (PITC) and Advanced Disease Management (ADM) Training Programme
Nair ART Centre conducted a training programme on Provider-Initiated Testing and Counselling (PITC) and Advanced Disease Management (ADM) in HIV, with support from MDACS and the RISE Team. The programme focused on strengthening the knowledge and skills of residents in HIV testing, counselling and advanced disease management. The Nair ART Centre team expressed gratitude to the respected Dean Sir for his guidance, encouragement and support, and to all HODs for facilitating resident participation. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sushma Gaikwad, In-charge & Nodal Officer, Nair ART Centre, along with the MDACS and RISE teams.

Topiwala National Medical college, Mumbai celebrated National Anti-Ragging day-2026 under the guidance of Respected dean sir, Dr. Shailesh Mohite. As per direction of UGC Inaugural ceremony of Anti-Ragging Day and week was held on 12th August 2026, UG students of various streams were briefed about the Ragging & its Prevention, Measures & Consequences by Anti-Ragging committee secretary and other members. Students were also addressed by PG academic dean Dr. Pawan Sable.

External Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) Surgery Workshop
The Department of Ophthalmology conducted an External Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) Surgery Workshop for postgraduate students on 11 August 2026. The workshop featured an interactive lecture and live surgical demonstrations by Dr. Adit Gupta, Honorary Oculoplasty Surgeon, and Dr. Rashmi Dave, Assistant Professor & Oculoplasty Surgeon. Two DCR procedures and lacrimal abscess drainage were demonstrated, with active participation from MS and DNB students. The workshop provided enriching practical exposure, and all patients are doing well.

A CME on Pulmonary Onco-Rehabilitation was organized on 1st August to mark World Lung Cancer Day, jointly by the Physiotherapy School & Centre and The Society of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The event, led by Dr. Bharati Asgaonkar, was conducted with the support of the Dean. Expert speakers from Tata Memorial Hospital and the organizing team delivered insightful sessions on advances in lung cancer management, respiratory sarcopenia, prehabilitation, and post-surgical rehabilitation. The seminar highlighted the vital role of multidisciplinary rehabilitation in improving outcomes and quality of life for #lung #cancer patients.
