CME on Pulmonary Onco-Rehabilitation
A CME on Pulmonary Onco-Rehabilitation was organized on 1st August to mark World Lung Cancer Day, jointly by the Physiotherapy School & Centre and The Society of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The event, led by Dr. Bharati Asgaonkar, was conducted with the support of the Dean. Expert speakers from Tata Memorial Hospital and the organizing team delivered insightful sessions on advances in lung cancer management, respiratory sarcopenia, prehabilitation, and post-surgical rehabilitation. The seminar highlighted the vital role of multidisciplinary rehabilitation in improving outcomes and quality of life for #lung #cancer patients.

The Department of Anaesthesiology successfully conducted the CPCR Workshop for examination-going residents on Wednesday and Thursday, in accordance with the guidelines mandated by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. The workshop focused on strengthening essential cardiopulmonary and cerebral resuscitation skills through structured training and hands-on sessions. We express our sincere gratitude to Hon. The Department of Psychiatry observed World Schizophrenia Awareness Day on 25 May by conducting interactive awareness talks for the general public across the hospital campus. The team also visited a nearby police station to discuss schizophrenia and ways to better support wandering mentally ill patients. The department thanks Dr. Mohite for his encouragement and support in making the initiative successful.

Pediatric Department at BYL Nair Hospital successfully facilitated its first pediatric liver transplant.
In a landmark achievement, doctors from Pediatric Department, BYL Nair Hospital, successfully facilitated the first pediatric liver transplant for a Nair patient. Baby Iqra, diagnosed with biliary atresia at 4 months and suffering from advanced liver disease, underwent a high-risk liver transplant at just 11 months of age, weighing only 5.8 kg with associated portal vein atresia. With guidance from Ped Gastro consultant Dr. Anil Tambe, the child’s father donated a part of his liver in a remarkable act of courage. The transplant, performed with multidisciplinary support at Gleneagles Hospital, was made possible entirely through charitable funding assistance. Today, Iqra is recovering well and moving towards a healthier future — a testament to teamwork, resilience, and hope.

On the occasion of National Pathology Day (13 April 2026), the Department of Pathology organized a CME titled “Insights in Laboratory Medicine for Clinical Practice.” The program featured eminent speakers and highlighted key areas including automation, cardiac, liver, renal and endocrine function testing, immunoassays, and urine analysis through case-based discussions. In-house faculty—Dr. Bina Dias, Dr. Nikhil Bhagwat, Dr. Atim Pajai, and Dr. Ali Adnan—delivered insightful presentations.
