IMPORTANT ACHIEVEMENTS AS HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT NEPHROLOGY, at T.N.Medical College & BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai:


A. Massive Expansion & Development of Nephrology dept at Nair Hospital


       1. Expanding the Dialysis unit from 5 bedded to 14 bedded AKD


       2. Extension of working hour of Dialysis unit from 7AM to 5 PM to 24 hour schedule


      3. Increasing the staff strength[ Medical & Paramedical] from 14 to 45.


       4. Establishing Intensive Kidney Care Unit and Kidney Transplant Room


       5. Initiated DM Nephrology at T.N.Medical College in 2012 & increased the seats to 3 from 2021.


       6.   Initiated  Fellowship in Dialysis Medicine  affiliated to MUHS , at T.N.Medical College in 2010


      7. Initiated  Fellowship in Dialysis Medicine  affiliated to MUHS in , at T.N.Medical College in 2011


B. Important Contribution during COVID PANDEMIC


        Dialysis facilities were augmented during COVID PANDEMIC [ From April 2020 onwards ] & total 625 plus COVID positive patients received in all 5000 +     dialysis sessions.  This is  one of the centres  with the highest number of COVID DIALYSIS ,by a single centre,  in World too.


C. Successfully conducted National Level Nephrology MOCK exams for four successive years from 2017 to 2020 along with KEMH & Mumbai Nephrology  Group.    Each mock exam was attended by on average 100 DM & DNB Nephrology students.16 to 20 Senior Nephrology Teachers from all were India were examineres, with Two separate halls , with parallel sessions, each for two days 


D. First ABO incompatible Kidney Transplant at Nair Hospital, in Public Health Institute : Maharashtra, at affordable cost

     Anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease patients not on dialysis.

A multi-center, open-label, prospective, pilot followed by pivotal clinical performance evaluation of instangal - a novel, non-invasive class b in-vitro diagnostic medical device for detection of urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (ungal) in patients with kidney diseases and disorder
