MUHS Internship Programme

Duration of Internship - 365 days.

OBJECTIVES OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

At the end of internship training, the intern should be able to:

  • Diagnose clinically common disease conditions encountered in practice and make timely decisions for referring to higher level.
  • Use discreetly the essential drugs, infusions, blood or its substitutes and lab services.
  • Demonstrate skills in monitoring of the National Health Programmes and schemes.
  • Develop leadership qualities to function effectively as a leader of the health team.
  • Render services to chronically sick and disabled.
  • Communicate effectively with patient and community.
  • Render specific services to the cases from the tribal and backward regions
  • Internship Programme Includes:

  • 8 months - Nair Hospital
  • 2 months - Peripheral Hospital
  • 2 months - Community Med
  • Posting at NAIR HOSPITAL

    Leave Granted

    12 days per year

    No other leave will be granted

    Log Book

  • Should be maintained in good condition till the end of internship
  • Completed log book should be submitted to the department of Community Medicine at the end of internship
  • Repeat Postings

  • Will be given for inadequate attendance
  • No. of days of repeat = no. of days of leave > 12 days
  • For unsatisfactory performance/poor evaluation score ( <25), repeat posting will be 1/3rd of the duration of the posting
  • Repeat Postings Can Only be Done After One Year Internship Programme Has Been Completed.

    Repeat postings can be started only after obtaining repeat posting orders from Community Medicine Dept.

    EVALUATION of Interns will be done on the following points:

  • Proficiency of knowledge and competency in skills for case mgt
  • Responsibility, punctuality, work up of case, involvement in treatment, follow-up
  • Capacity to work in a team
  • Initiative, participation in discussion, research aptitude
  • Important Points:

  • INTERNS WILL ONLY WORK UNDER SUPERVISION OF MO / MED. TEACHER
  • INTERNS WILL NOT ISSUE A MEDICAL CERTIFICATE OR DEATH CERTIFICATE OR A MEDICOLEGAL DOCUMENT UNDER THEIR SIGNATURE
  • Every Intern Has To:

  • Obtain Provisional Registration from the Maharashtra Medical Council within 3 months of declaration of results
